Celebrate!

I passed my 3-hour glucose test, yay! But this good news doesn’t come without some bad. I am dealing with my first sickness of my pregnancy. I have an awful cold that is really kicking my butt! Being pregnant doesn’t really help since there isn’t much medicine I can take, or that I feel comfortable taking. So I’m loading up on the vitamin C and rest and hoping it goes away soon!

Next checkup is on Friday!

Chugging along.

It’s been a while since I blogged an update. Let’s see…

Last week I got to take the one-hour glucose test at the hospital. I failed. For those of you who don’t know what this test is… You go in, drink this nasty orange glucose drink, sit for an hour, have your blood drawn and tested. If your blood glucose levels are too high, you fail. If you fail this one-hour test you go back for a three-hour version. With the three-hour test you have to fast before hand, drink even more of the yucky drink and have your blood tested 3 times over 3 hours. Not real excited about it! And if I fail this time around I will be diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Let’s all hope I pass!!!

We also had our first baby shower a few weekends ago in Columbus hosted by my mom, aunts and Grandma. It was a lot of fun and Miles got LOTS of great gifts!!!! He is going to be a very well dressed little guy!

We start our classes at the hospital next weekend, I’m sure that’ll be quite interesting!

Only just over 11 weeks (or so) to go!

Swagger Wagon

My car recently hit the 150 thousand mile mark and have been running with the check engine light on for the past 30 thousand. So I have been trying to hold off buying a new for as long as possible since my current car is paid off. I have been keeping my eyes open for good family cars since we will be expanding to a family of 3 here soon. I have never considered a mini van til this commercial for the sienna.

This one is my favorite. I hope miles doesn’t drink all of our milk!

Swagger Wagon…sounds like my type of car.

Breast pump

So we got our breastpump the other day and I had to see how good the sucking was. I would say it did a good job sucking.

Surprise Ultrasound!

Posted: February 13th, 2010 | Author: kimifowler | Filed under: kimi's posts | No Comments »

Yesterday during a routine checkup the doctor starting measuring my fundal height for the first time. She was surprised that it was measuring about 2 weeks bigger than it should. She then asked me if I was growing Conan the Barbarian. :)

She decided she wanted me to get an ultrasound to check out baby Miles and see how big he was. They happened to have an opening 10 minutes later so I got in right away. Turns out Miles is measuring about 6 days bigger than expected which is considered in the ‘normal’ rage of 2 weeks either way. Everything was normal and he weighs about 2 lbs and 1 ounce currently. He was moving like crazy but did flash us his penis a few times so it’s definitely still a boy! :) The only bummer discovered was that Miles is currently breech, so we’re hoping he turns himself the right way in the coming weeks.

Will miles sleep in our bed?

Posted: February 2nd, 2010 | Author: michaelafowler | Filed under: mike's posts | 2 Comments »

So this is a question I get all of the time. Will you bring miles in to your bed to sleep with you? My answer is always no there isn’t enough room. People always give me a weird look when I explain the dogs take up too much room. Here is proof, I still need to fit in there somewhere as well.

Cruise control

These days the pregnancy seems to be on cruise control… the weeks are ticking by and the bump is growing steadily. Lately we’ve been working a lot around the house getting things cleaned out and organized and working on Miles’ room as well. We have the crib and mattress done, a little table and chairs set built and are slowly filling the closet with clothes and a diaper supply.

We took a hospital tour over the weekend and it made me even more excited about everything. The maternity ward at our hospital is fairly new and advanced and offers really nice accommodations for me, Mike and the baby so we are very happy with our hospital choice. We start up our classes in a few months on different topics so more on those later!

We’re starting our next big project tonight… finding a nanny/babysitter! We have our first interviewee coming over tonight and are very hopeful they are a right fit. Our top choice would be to find someone willing and able to come to our home each workday since I work from a home office. This would just be so convenient for a multitude of reasons. So keep your fingers crossed our candidate search is short and successful!

I’ve recently mapped out my maternity leave plans and am happy that I will be able to take off a full 8 weeks and then work 2 weeks of part time before going back full time. I’m sure this time will fly by though but I’m happy nonetheless.

I know my blog posts aren’t as entertaining as Mikes… I recently gave him a hard time about his lack of posting. I’m sure he’ll work up something fun soon.

And here’s the ever growing bump!
